ON MY MIND
What’s on my mind
At the moment
How do I pay my bills
And the rent
Too many children
To clothe and feed
No spare money
But plenty I need
I’ve a lot on my mind
The weather is cold
And I feel so weary
But I am old
But hey, it’s nearly Spring
Better weather on the way
So I’ll look to the future
And say “Have a good day”

A picture on my mind
I still see the deep blue sea
Where the waves constantly talk
It is the favourite place to me
And I wish there I could walk
My mind is refreshed and calm
The wind blows out the cobweb
While peace fills my heart like balm
Tide calls the waves draw back by ebb
In thoughts I love to come here
To this nature’s majesty
Admiration, perhaps some fear
I feel for the beautiful, wild sea
This picture simply helps me
To forget all trouble and care
The serenity that I can see
Is something I want to share
I leave the haven of this thought
For duty calls away from shores
The picture on my mind has taught
To rest my heart on its great oars
