The Rose is chosen for weekly theme for poetry, prose or short story (perhaps in connection to oncoming Valentine Day )

Only a rose
Deep red red roses So soft and so smooth They have such a sweet scent Making my heart move This colourful red rose Is England’s treasure Filling one’s heart Giving so much pleasure
A fresh and fragile flower It is the bright red rose With it’s crimson soft petals Beginning to unclose Red roses are a sign of love So I smile at a single red rose For I know our love will grow. More precious than even gold

A lonely rose
In my Grandparents garden Forgotten it stands, the lonely rose An old sort with amazing colour Like from an old book of prose
This rose lives amidst wild grass The last token of rich memories If it was dug out it had no chance It would die in the debris
This lonely rose, once Grandpa’s gift Has seen all the long gone time Always I hope it lifts head anew With the next Summer’s chime
