I'm Ready
The presents are wrapped
and I've written the cards
The tree is up.
but that was hard.
I was looking for things
to hang on the tree.
I've dressed it now,
and it looks good to me.
The food has been bought
and all stored away.
just hope there's some left
for Christmas Day.
The house is ready
So what can I do next?
Oh! I'll stop now,
and just go for a rest.

Ready for Christmas
Bread and cookies, pies and cakes, all so neatly done,
Gifts are wrapped, cards been written, forgotten may be none.
Decorations are in place, the tree waiting outdoors
Tidied the rooms imbued with the scent of waxed floors.
Each day there’s something adding, the joys grant red cheeks
And checking the calendar, few days to go, not weeks.
Rehearsed also the Carols, the guest list is complete,
Instead of the lanterns, stars illumine the street.
Children grow excited and mothers a bit worn out,
After all they care for everything Christmas is about.
Hidden are the gifts in drawers, no peeping nose can find
A lasting smile lays over all, while peace finds heart and mind.
