With Mexico and seeks to positively impact communities by sharing time in solidaFundación MAPFRE, in accordance with its objective of eradicating hunger in the country, has donated 25 million pesos to the Network of Food Banks of Mexico (BAMX), as part of its Extraordinary Aid Program to address the emergency situation and socioeconomic crisis that Covid-19 is causing in Latin America. Aligned with the United Nations and its mission for sustainable development, Fundación MAPFRE granted these resources to collection centers of the Mexican Food Bank Network, seeking to help achieve the second objective within the SDG agenda “Zero Hunger.” : focusing on ending hunger in all countries where the company has a presence.
This donation will serve part of the 46% of the Mexican population who, according to OECD figures, are in situations of poverty and which has been accentuated due to the impact of the pandemic. With this, the BAMX Network will be in charge of rescuing food throughout the entire value chain from the countryside Chinese Australia Phone Number List and industry, to restaurants and hotels, complementing the food packages with grains, cereals and fruits. With this, food, instead of being wasted, will be rescued and redistributed to communities and institutions in need with the infrastructure of the Mexican Food Bank Network in which the beneficiaries are identified through a socio-nutritional study.
The BAMX Network is made up of 55 Food Banks distributed throughout the country covering 27 States and a National Service Office working as a Network for more than 30 years. At Fundación MAPFRE, we are very proud to be able to contribute our grain of sand to the nutrition of Mexico and its inhabitants. There is still much to do in a country where 23% of the Mexican population lives in food poverty and 12% lives with chronic malnutrition.
