The Queen’s Tea Party
Outside Buckingham Palace today Good job the day was fine There was a queue of people Some of the dresses were divine The Queen had invited them all To join in a celebration So dressed up in all their finery They had taken their invitation.
But the queuing is long and arduous For people in posh frocks and hats Thousands of attendees do attend While people in uniforms fast track To receive your invitation You must have done some good Towards a charity or organisation Well of course, one would.
Of course, security is really tight For as well as the invitation A passport or I.D is needed Before they reach their destination Inside there are a few marquees With two military bands playing They get tea sandwiches and lemonade But of course the alcohol is missing.
When I looked at al those people I said “my invite must be in the post” For it had not arrived before I left And I would like to meet the host. BUT I am averse to queuing That certainly is not my thing So when I do get my invite I would expect to walk right in.

(may give it a try)
Afternoon Tea
Can’t we have a cup of tea this afternoon at three? At a table so small, in the garden not the hall, how lovely that would be for two, just you and me. Perhaps a little shy I’ll ask for a piece of pie, a sandwich would do too -- you don’t want? - I’ll eat two.
