Winter is coming

Winter is coming
it's coming up fast,
cloudy skies rushing
snow rides the blast.

Winter's first touch

Thunder and hail disturbed my slumber
Though, it’s not summer but November.
Of course we know the season’s vow
That Winter has to bring the snow.

We rake the golden leaves from lawn
The last garden work after late dawn
Most birds left for a cheerier land
Without their songs the days get bland.

Skies turn pale, woods and fields lonely
A cold wind brings clouds thick and grey
While walking the cold nips on my nose
My fingers stiffen, still they’re exposed.

So hands in the pockets scarf and cap
Dressed with all that gives a warm wrap
Then Winter can come with snow flake dance
Show me and the kids a Winter’s romance.

Evenings indoors are a Winter’s gift
With glow-wine and candles, to spirit a lift
Now stack the logs in the fireplace
I love the warm glow in your face.

A Bright Winter Day

So quiet and still
On this bright winter day
A weak sun is peeping
He may come out to play

The woods so lovely
The snow is deep
Yet all around me
Is still fast asleep

Such peace to enjoy
So sparkling and bright
A winter wonderland
Such a beautiful sight

Great work Alan, Mystic and Doreen. I will try a humble verse.

Winter's coming round again,
with blasts of wind and freezing rain.
Springtime is better, that's my refrain,
I just think Winter's a real pain!

A strange thing happening in my garden,
as frost and snow make all the earth harden...
Four hedgehogs still making nightly rounds,
they should hibernate before the blast abounds!
