Secret Preparations
Under the cover of darkness
Santa Claus will call,
with secret expectations
wrapped up and very tall!
Minced pie with all temptations
and a glass of Sherry too
with all the preparations

Secret Preparations
It’s every year at Christmas time
In a special drawer I will have a look
For a list of most dear people
They are written in a little book
Behind each name a friendly face
The thoughts stir a warm feeling
So when I send a Christmas card
My words bear richest meaning
Before the time of Christmas tree
I find little angels, silver and gold
Pieces still are from great grandma
Traditional, special and very old
Poinsettia, the seasonal flower
And candles in silver and white
The rooms appear now so festive
The evenings are full of light
While the kitchen is filled with scents
Of cinnamon, aniseed and clove
Carols playing from old records
The atmosphere fills with warm love
In all the weeks of preparation
Christmas spirit arises gently
Makes us aware that peace on Earth
Still is to work for consequently

I also have a little book
At christmas time I love to look
Names of people I hold dear
But sadly now, some are not here
people who I met over the years
and there has been laughter and tears
i remember them, even if we are miles apart
they always have a piece of my heart
so this is the first of my christmas preparation
as there will be so much action
buying the pressies, and warapping them all
Then put them under the tree which stands in the hall
